Go Obama, Go!

Comments

Hiya from another of the Brit Bloggers For 'Bama - in agreement with your sentiments.

Honestly I haven't made up my mind between the two.... I had never noticed Hillary's voice being so dreadful as you say, but now I can hear the flatness~thx...lol

So just out of curiosity are you a Brit living in the US or do you just follow our politics?

A Brit in Britain. It's not so much follow your politics, as have them thrust upon us. What with the sub-prime debacle, the Iraq war and the slavish way our leader has followed your leader, we really have to take note.

I am of the opinion politics is shit anyway. You got Bush after that Florida nonsense, we got Blair even though 60% of us voted against him. And politicians say one thing to get elected and do another when in power.

One thing Gordon Brown has done since taking over from Blair is to remove the right of Parliament to go to war without the consent of the people. It's a start!
Well, you know, Hillary's voice is just her voice.
I'm not voting for a candidate for DJ or opera star.
This is just what she was born with.

Obama's voice though....
Perhaps as a Brit you might not have noticed this, but Obama's accent is a matter of choice, and frankly it weirds me out.

His mom is from Kansas, his dad was African.
He lived as a kid in Hawaii, for a couple of years in Malaysia, then briefly in LA (Occidental College), transferred to NY (Columbia), then Boston (Harvard Law), then Chicago.
Nothing here south of the Mason-Dixon line.

So why does he increasingly sound like a Southern Baptist preacher?
The only thing it reminds me of is GW Bush's Maine-DC-Yale fake Texas accent.
I hadn't noticed that! I think Hillary's voice reminds me of headmistresses and stuffy supervisors. I don't know why. But I have no say in this at all, thankfully - I get fobbed off with a Scotsman I never voted for as my leader.

I shall go and have another listen to them both. Try and get the Schoolmarm image out and the Southern Baptist preacher in. Who knows - maybe they will merge into one perfect voice in my head!
