I am a Passenger
And I realised This is my song. I am A Passenger.I am the passenger and I ride and I ride
I ride through the city's backsides
I see the stars come out of the sky
Yeah, the bright and hollow sky
You know it looks so good tonight
And I am.
I do not drive a vehicle.
I can ride a bicycle.
I can walk.
But, should I want to travel any distance, I have to rely on someone else. The bus driver, the train driver, the car driver - always someone else.
And the thing about this is - you see a lot. A LOT. Honest, drivers - there is a hell of a lot of stuff you drive past that you never see. Because you can't. You are concentrating on the road, hazards, the car - not the scenery. (Sweet Jesus, I do hope not!)
Sometimes I want to be The Driver. Mostly, however, I am happy being The Passenger. I will talk to you, sing with you, map read for you - whatever.
Just don't ask me to drive you!
**This is not the picture on the album this is from, but I just love Iggy looking like this. A survivor. A man with a history. Dangerous.

I do 99% of the driving in my life and find being a passenger to be a total thrill - specifically because of all the stuff I get to see. It's completely fascinating to be driven along some path that I usually drive, and to to realize all the visual treats that I'm missing.
You can be my passenger anytime. Just don't make cell calls - that annoys the hell out of me (so rude to ignore the host/driver like that!).
doesn't Iggy look totally different (and younger) when he smiles/laughs in the vid?!?
