Are you interested in intergalactic travel? What would you hope to discover?
Presented by Intel, Sponsors of Tomorrow.
Sometimes, QotD, your memory loss astounds me.
OK.
I want to be on this ship, with this man. We will search the galaxy for intelligent life. We will have adventures. We may have sex (depends on him, really. I am totally ready to sleep with him!).
But seriously. We need to get into space. We should NEVER have stopped with a dozen footprints on the Moon. We should be mining asteroids by now!
I have, QotD, said it before, but I will say it again. In, oh, 5 billion years or so, our sun will suddenly expand to be larger than the orbit of Jupiter. Sure don't wanna be here when that happens! So, unless we are going to have a short lifespan as a species ( and that's looking more and more likely the longer we abuse this planet ), we had better shift our arses.
Make it so.
What's the first thing you would change to fix the economy?
Submitted by Chicago Shadow.
I cannot figure the economy out, I have enough trouble balancing a household budget. And I am not 100% sure it is actually fixable in a short-term sorta way.
We may have to suffer first.
How are you a better person today than you were ten years ago?
Sponsored by Nature Made.I'd say I'm almost a completely different person than I was ten years ago. The angst has definitely melted away since then... but mostly, I'm a better person because I'm just a lot mellower. Sure, things still bother me, but I try to let the small things go.
Also, I'm a better dresser. Thank god.
I'm not. I am bitchier, crankier, more likely to push in the way when i get on a bus, more likely to say nasty shit to your face... I'm getting older and, for good or bad, I have had enough shit to last me a lifetime. Plus, I want my kids to move out. I want peace in my life, I want to not have to pick up shit that ain't mine, cook or wash or clean or...
Gosh me, today is a bad day!
Ashlee Simpson is set to appear in a Melrose Place spinoff. Tell us: Will you be watching this CW show and which Melrose character would you most like to see come back?
I said to myself I shall answer all the QotD, today. Then I hit this one. Second question.
a) What is Melrose Place?
b) The only reason I know Ashlee Simpson is through Go Fug Yourself. So, on the basis of that knowledge, I would not watch it.
c) What is Melrose Place?
Yet more US-centric questions. Which is, in fairness, fair. Vox is an American company. Just, Soaps?
What's the most expensive article of clothing you own? Why did you buy it?
I don't have an Expensive Item of Clothing in my wardrobe. The nearest I have to that is a Betty Jackson Blanket Coat, which I purchased for the grand sum of £30.00 in a sale. I had rushed to the bank to withdraw funds when the coat was priced at £60 - when I got back, it had been halved. Result!
This was, oooh, 30 years ago, when I was living in Manchester.
Then I moved to London and went into a tiny clothing shop in Ealing.
Is that a Betty Jackson, the lady in the shop said, cos we sold our last one of those last week, on sale for £250.00.
I was gobsmacked that my coat could have been priced at such a cost that £250 was a sale price.
She was gobsmacked that a coat which they had originally sold for £475 went for £30.
Everything else I own comes from second hand shops, or knocked down at the sales.
Phish has reunited and is going on tour this summer. Are you planning on on buying tickets for this jam band's reunion tour?
Who are Phish, and why should I (even if I were able to) buy tickets to see a band who cannot even spell? And what is a Jam Band anyway?
What's the first thing you do when you get home from work?
Discover if there is a dinner ready for me, or cooking at least, or if I have to rustle up a meal for 5 in thirty minutes. Makes my homecoming akin to the lottery.
What's your favorite scent?
The smell of hot ground after rain has fallen on it, when there are big splodges of raindrops but before everything gets washed out. Lovely.
What has been your favorite mistake?

My children. All of them, bless 'em.
What. You want an explanation?
OK.
Daughter came first. Unplanned, unpredicted. Not, I hasten to say, Unwanted. So we thought Ok, now's the time for children.
So we had her, and she was such a good baby. Quiet, good sleep patterns early, funny: so we decided not to take precautions and have a second baby as soon as possible.
And that turned out to be Eldest Son and Middle Son.
OK, enough already, we thought. No more children.
Then came Youngest. Also unplanned and very unpredicted! (What's the point using contraception religiously if it lets you down!)..
So one of the things we say to people is We only planned one child, but we aren't sure which one it was. Raises some eyebrows, gets some laughs.
And kids, if you are reading this, I love you to bits. Remember the title of the post - My FAVOURITE Mistake. That would be you lot.
What were you afraid of when you were younger that seems silly to you now?

Nuffin. Sorry, nothing.
When I was younger, when I was a child and a teen and a young adult, I was not afraid of anything. I would run downhill as fast as I could, climb trees and mountains, hitch-hike around England, get drunk with strangers, swim in dangerous waters, get into all sorts of trouble and know it was all gonna be OK.
I was Invincible!.
Now my knees hate heights, I worry about having no roof over my head, how my children are going to survive this life, and I know all too well that I am not, in fact, invulnerable.
Shit. Thanks, QotD, for making me so aware of my mortality at this early hour of the morning (it's 08.16 and I want to go back in time...)
